Crystal Hughes, LCSW

I believe everyone has the ability to reach their goals and thrive in their own way. It is my mission to help provide therapeutic support by offering a place where you feel heard, validated, and valued. I utilize a variety of evidence based therapeutic approaches to address various mental health concerns and support individuals in their journey toward healing and personal growth.

My Story

Hello! I am Crystal Hughes, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am the owner and therapist at Thrive Therapy, LLC. I have had years working as a social worker in a variety of settings, including inpatient psychiatric units, long term care, hospice care and outpatient behavioral health. I obtained my master's degree in 2019 from the University of Maine after working as a licensed social worker for over 15 years. It has been my pleasure working with a variety of people going through their own personal journeys. I treat a variety of mental health concerns, including anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, grief and loss, caregiver stress, depression and trauma.

My journey into the field of therapy began with a passion for understanding the human mind and a deep desire to help others. Since a young child I knew I wanted to help others in some way. It wasn't until I took a psychology class in high school that I even realized there was a profession of social workers. I attended the University of Maine at Machias and  obtained my bachelors degree in behavioral science in 2003. I worked several years in central and northern Maine, providing support and case management services. In 2017 I began to yearn for a more fulfilling experience. Little did I know how much I would enjoy graduate school and learning everything social work, including theories, social work ethics, and evidence based approaches.  It rekindled my passion and realized how much I can help others through some of life's most difficult times.

In my free time, I love spending time with family and my two golden retrievers. I enjoy nature, camping, playing board games with friends and creating a variety of crafts. My interests keep me balanced and enrich my approach to therapy, where I strive to create a warm, empathetic environment for my clients. I'm here to walk with you on your journey towards healing and fulfillment.
